During a SEATO exercise in the South China Sea, a collision between HMAS Melbourne and USS Frank E. Evans resulted in the latter vessel being cut in two and the deaths of 74 personnel.
The Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) was an international organization for collective defense in Southeast Asia created by the Southeast Asia Collective Defense Treaty signed in September 1954 in Manila, Philippines. The formal institution of SEATO was established on 19 February 1955 at a meeting of treaty partners in Bangkok, Thailand. The organization's headquarters was also in Bangkok. A total of eight members joined the organization in its lifetime.

A chess prodigy, he was awarded the International Master title prior to turning 12, becoming the youngest individual from Turkey to achieve that title. In 2024, he became the fourth-youngest grandmaster in history at the time, and, later that year, the youngest player ever to reach a rating of 2600 Elo points. Subsequently, in May 2026, he became the youngest player in history to reach a rating of 2700, defeating the previous record by almost a year. Erdoğmuş was the youngest grandmaster in the world from April 2024 to May 2026, when Faustino Oro, who is two years and four months younger, achieved the title.

Khartoum massacre: In Sudan, over 100 people are killed when security forces accompanied by Janjaweed militiamen storm and open fire on a sit-in protest.
The Khartoum massacre occurred on 3 June 2019, when the armed forces of the Sudanese Transitional Military Council, headed by the Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and his deputy, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the immediate successor organisation to the Janjaweed militia, used heavy gunfire and tear gas to disperse a sit-in by protestors in Khartoum, killing over 100 people. It has been difficult to assess the actual number killed. At least forty bodies were thrown in the River Nile. Hundreds of unarmed civilians were injured, hundreds more were arrested, many families were terrorised in their home estates across Sudan, and the RSF raped more than 70 women and men. The Internet was almost completely blocked in Sudan in the days following the massacre, making it difficult to estimate the number of victims.

The Prime Minister shall be dismissed if no fewer than one-fourth of the members of the State Great Khural formally submit a proposal for the Prime Minister’s dismissal and a majority of all members approve it, or if a resolution expressing confidence in the Prime Minister is not adopted. The incumbent prime minister is Nyam-Osoryn Uchral, who succeeded Gombojavyn Zandanshatar on 30 March 2026, following his resignation three days earlier.
