The Nation of Islam (NOI) is a religious organization founded in the United States by Wallace Fard Muhammad in 1930. While describing itself as Islamic and using Islamic terminology, its religious tenets differ substantially from orthodox Islamic traditions. Scholars of religion characterize it as a new religious movement.

The ferry Herald of Free Enterprise capsized while leaving the harbour of Zeebrugge, Belgium, killing 193 people on board.
MS Herald of Free Enterprise was a roll-on/roll-off (RORO) ferry which capsized moments after leaving the Belgian port of Zeebrugge on the night of 6 March 1987, killing 193 passengers and crew.
The Troubles: In Operation Flavius, the Special Air Service killed three volunteers of the Provisional Irish Republican Army conspiring to bomb a parade of British military bands in Gibraltar.
The Troubles were an ethno-nationalist conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted for about 30 years from the late 1960s to 1998. Also known internationally as the Northern Ireland conflict, it began in the late 1960s and is usually deemed to have ended with the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. Although the Troubles mostly took place in Northern Ireland, at times violence spilled over into parts of the Republic of Ireland, England, and mainland Europe.
The Marine Parade Community Building, the mural cladding of which is the largest installation art in Singapore, was opened.
Marine Parade Community Building was a community centre located at 278 Marine Parade Road, Singapore. Opened on 6 March 2000, it housed the formerly separate Marine Parade Community Centre and Marine Parade Public Library, as well as a performing arts group, The Necessary Stage. Designed by William Lim Associates, one of the distinguishing features of the postmodern building was the mural cladding called Texturefulness of Life, which was the largest piece of installation art in Singapore. The building was demolished in 2023 and is being rebuilt.

As part of their investigation into an athletic scandal at Florida State University, the National Collegiate Athletic Association released a report alleging that 61 student athletes had engaged in academic fraud.
In 2007, administrators at Florida State University publicly announced that an internal investigation had uncovered evidence that multiple student athletes had engaged in academic dishonesty. These findings were corroborated by another investigation conducted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) that implicated 61 athletes in multiple different sports. As a result of the scandal, the NCAA levied several punishments against the university. Sports journalist Mark Schlabach has called the incident "Florida State's biggest scandal".
